Damon Braces Cluj-Napoca
The Damon system uses self-ligating brackets that reduce friction and can offer a more comfortable treatment with efficient orthodontic visits.
At BioEstetic Dent in Cluj-Napoca (Bună Ziua), we plan Damon treatment after clinical evaluation and imaging — predictable alignment and stable occlusion, under our orthodontic specialists.
What are Damon braces
Damon is a fixed orthodontic system with self-ligating brackets: the archwire is held by a clip mechanism, not classic elastic ligatures. The core idea is lighter, continuous forces with less friction between wire and bracket.
In practice, that can mean smoother adjustment visits and easier hygiene around the appliance, because there are no elastics holding the wire in place. It does not replace diagnosis: Damon is a tool, not a universal solution.
At BioEstetic Dent, choosing Damon vs. classic metal braces, aesthetic braces, or aligners (Invisalign / Spark) is based on case analysis — X-rays, photos, occlusion, and your aesthetic and functional goals.
Who is Damon suitable for
- Moderate to complex crowding and spacing
- Patients who want fixed braces with a modern (self-ligating) workflow
- Cases where the orthodontist considers Damon biomechanics advantageous
- Teens and adults, when clinically indicated
- People motivated to maintain hygiene during fixed treatment
When Damon may not be the first choice
If maximum discretion is the top priority and the case suits aligners, Invisalign or Spark may be more appropriate. Damon remains visible (even in aesthetic variants, brackets are on the teeth).
Some malocclusions or treatment phases may require another appliance type or a combination of techniques. That is why an orthodontic consultation is mandatory before “choosing the brand.”
Common advantages of the Damon system
Self-ligating
No classic elastic ligatures — easier hygiene around the bracket and often more efficient activations at check-ups.
Controlled forces
Damon mechanics aim for light, continuous forces; many patients describe manageable initial discomfort, depending on the plan.
Orthodontic control
Allows precise tooth movement when correctly indicated. Results depend on the doctor’s plan and your cooperation, not only bracket type.
Aesthetic options
Metal and aesthetic options exist; we discuss them at consultation, along with estimated duration and post-treatment retention.
Damon vs. Invisalign / Spark vs. classic braces
Damon = fixed self-ligating braces. Invisalign and Spark = removable, discreet aligners. Classic metal braces = fixed, with ligatures, very versatile in complex cases.
There is no universal “best.” If you want discretion and can wear aligners 20–22 h/day, aligners are worth evaluating. If you need predictable fixed control, Damon or metal/aesthetic braces may be the right choice.
The orthodontics hub covers all types; dedicated Invisalign and Spark pages detail aligners. For real outcomes, see the clinic’s case portfolio as well.
How Damon treatment works
- 1
Orthodontic consultation
Exam, photos, X-rays / scans. We determine whether Damon is suitable and define the goal (aesthetic, functional, or both).
- 2
Plan and placement
Damon brackets are bonded; you receive hygiene and diet instructions. Tooth movement begins according to the plan.
- 3
Regular check-ups
Adjustments and monitoring. Interval depends on phase — your orthodontist tells you when to return.
- 4
Completion and retention
After alignment, a retainer (fixed or removable) maintains the result. Without retention, relapse risk increases.
Hygiene and what to avoid with Damon
Brushing after every meal, floss / interdental brushes, and mouthwash as recommended are essential. Plaque around brackets can lead to white spots or gingival inflammation.
Avoid very hard, sticky foods or those that can debond a bracket (ice cubes, caramels, uncontrolled popcorn). If something comes loose, contact the clinic — do not wait for the next visit if possible.
Contact sports may require a protective mouthguard; discuss this with your orthodontist beforehand.
How long it takes and how to learn the cost
Typical duration varies — often between 12 and 30 months, depending on complexity, age, and cooperation. You receive an estimate after consultation, not from a “standard internet price.”
